Responsibilities
- Lead quantum algorithm development for 2026-era applications
- Manage a team of 8-12 quantum researchers and engineers
- Collaborate with hardware teams to optimize quantum circuit designs
- Develop error-correction protocols for fault-tolerant computing
- Publish research in Nature/Science journals and present at IEEE conferences
- Secure $10M+ in government grants and industry partnerships
- Mentor PhD candidates and establish internship programs at UT Austin
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years leading quantum research teams with published breakthroughs
- Expertise in quantum error correction and algorithm optimization
- Experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or equivalent quantum frameworks
- Proven track record of securing federal research grants (NSF/DOE)
- Strong background in superconducting or photonic qubit systems
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex concepts to stakeholders
